On September 21, 2024, the Community Wellness Partners’ annual Parkinson’s Awareness Walk brought together hundreds of supporters, advocates, and community members to make an incredible impact. Hosted on the beautiful Presbyterian Homes & Services campus in New Hartford, NY, the event was a resounding success—raising an unprecedented $54,981 to support Parkinson’s programs and services. This total not only surpassed the original $50,000 goal but set a new record for the most funds ever raised in the event’s history.

With over 210 supporters contributing to this achievement, the walk was a powerful testament to the strength and unity of the Mohawk Valley community. Participants shared stories, forged connections, and walked in honor of loved ones impacted by Parkinson’s disease. The atmosphere was one of hope, resilience, and gratitude.

Highlights from the Day

The event kicked off with registration at 9:00 AM, followed by the walk at 10:00 AM. Teams and individuals alike came ready to make a difference. Leading the charge was Team Mike Parsons, whose 53 members raised an astounding $54,670. The passion and dedication of each participant were evident, with every step representing a commitment to enhancing the lives of those living with Parkinson’s disease.

Impact of the Funds Raised

Every dollar raised will directly support critical Parkinson’s programs and services offered by Community Wellness Partners, including:

  • Rock Steady Boxing: A non-contact, boxing-based fitness program proven to improve mobility, balance, and quality of life for people with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Outpatient Therapy Services: These include LSVT LOUD and LSVT BIG, evidence-based therapies that improve communication, mobility, and daily living activities.
  • The William and Rita Abraham Speaker Series: A quarterly educational series that provides valuable insights and resources for the Parkinson’s community.
